Important information for our members: your new membership area is live
At the Microbiology Society our members are at the heart of everything we do. We work to ensure your experience – be it registering for one of our events, applying for a grant with us, or simply renewing your membership – is as seamless as possible.
We previously communicated that as a member, you will see changes to the membership area of the website and to other core online transactions.
We are pleased to announce that our new membership area is now live. In this update, you will find further information on how to log on, update your membership details and how to make the most of all your member benefits.
Logging into the new membership area
Our new-look members area is designed to help you easily find and complete the transactions you need to, as well as update your information to make the most of your Society membership.
To log on, you will need to reset your account as your existing MiSociety login will no longer work. Please note that all aspects of your membership account will be found in the new members area, once you are logged in.
To reset your account, please use the same email address that you used to access your MiSociety membership account.
- Go to microbiologysociety.org and click the Login button.
- Click the Sign up now link.
- Enter the same email address you previously used to log in and click the Send Verification Code button.
- Once you have received the verification code, enter it into the provided field and click Verify Code.
- Provide a new password, your first name and your last name in the related field, then click Create to complete the process.
Once you have logged in, you will see your usual membership information. This includes any active grants or other applications, event bookings, your membership details and your profile information, as before.
Your account dashboard
In your account dashboard you can access all of your membership information, services and benefits. It looks like this:
We have highlighted some of the most common areas we know our members regularly use.
Your profile
Visit your account to view and update your personal details and contact information. We ask you to keep your profile up to date to get the most from your membership. Please take the time to ensure all the information we have is correct. We have added a new equality, diversity and inclusion survey; while it is voluntary to disclose information about yourself, your responses will be instrumental in supporting us to make the Society more inclusive.
Memberships
In this area, you will see your membership details and access all of the resources and support the Society offers.
When it is time to renew your membership, you can do so here, where you can set up your renewal by direct debit and change and upgrade your membership category.
Events
In this section, you can view and manage your bookings for upcoming Society events and keep track of your bookings.
Applications and nominations
In this area, you can review the progress of your current applications (i.e. for a Society grant or for a governance position) and your prize nominations. You will also be able to submit grant claims here.
Other information
Further benefits and services you can access via the new membership area include:
- Offers and benefits for our members from other organisations.
- Event resources.
- Opportunities to get involved with your Society.
Please spend some time making your way around the dashboard so that you are familiar with the new layout and can access everything you need to in order to make the most of your Society membership and get involved with our activities.
Membership Directory – coming soon
The new membership area will be home to the Members’ Directory, providing details of your fellow members who have opted into the Directory, in order to aid networking and collaboration. This is coming soon and we will let you know as soon as it is live.
