Thank you to reviewers for Microbiology Society publications in 2022

The Journal of Medical Microbiology is an interdisciplinary journal for medical, dental and veterinary microbiology, at the bench and in the clinic. It provides comprehensive coverage of medical, dental and veterinary microbiology and infectious diseases, welcoming articles ranging from laboratory research to clinical profiles, including bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology.

Microbiology Society journals rely on the efforts of reviewers to ensure that we continue to publish high-quality articles. Peer reviewers pay a key role in the publishing process by donating their time and expertise to the community, allowing us to further advance the understanding of microbiology.

Microbial Genomics is looking for early career microbiologists (ECMs) to join the Board of Reviewers. As a membership charity, we recognise that ECMs are the future of the Society and our journals and we would like to provide them with the opportunity to develop their peer review skills. Peer reviewers play a critical role in ensuring that high-quality science is published, allowing us to further advance the understanding of microbiology.

As we look to broaden our community to be more inclusive and international, the Society supported the 8^th Conference on Beneficial Microbes in Wisconsin (USA), providing awards, opportunities and prizes for thirteen microbiologists. The conference on Beneficial Microbes brought together US and international researchers across multiple disciplines, including clinical science.

Access Microbiology is an open research platform that encourages the publication of replication studies, negative or null results, research proposals, data management plans, additions to established methods, and interdisciplinary work. It covers the full spectrum of microscopic life forms, from bacteria and viruses to fungi, protists, archaea, and algae. It welcomes all approaches, from computational, biotechnology, and laboratory work, to environmental, clinical, and veterinary studies. It also publishes pedagogy papers on microbiology education.

The Microbiology Society is delighted to announce that our sound science journal, Access Microbiology, has been re-launched as an innovative open research platform and is now open for submissions. It is free for authors to submit and publish on the platform during the first year of launch, so we encourage early submission to take advantage of this.
